While right or wrong is determined by each society group, there are comparable even if different ways to mark milestones in ones life.
Tattoos are used in some customs to mark adulthood in both men and women. Most people have seen the documentary programs dealing with people in the Amazon or Pacific islanders and the way that tattoos play a part in the culture. Some of these techniques have been imitated by tattoo artists and some of the artwork is now finding its way onto arm tattoos.
Arm tattoos are fashionable because the person can cover the tattoo with a top. They have the best of both worlds because they have a tattoo but during working hours it is hidden beneath a shirt.
Some people will say that if a person has a tattoo they should wear it with pride. The basic argument is true but there are still many careers that would frown on a tattoo. Imagine going to work at the office or bank with tattoos all over your neck. Its just not going to happen is it?
Types of Arm Tattoos
People with arm tattoos usually get one that is worn like a badge of sorts like shield or flag, or a wrap around tattoo that takes advantage of the arm shape for different artwork.
An arm tattoo can be pricey, especially if it is in depth. A type of arm tattoo that is trendy with many young people is a tribal tattoo. Usually done in black ink it wraps around the arm above the elbow.
Another popular arm tattoo is the barb wire tattoo. It's similar in design to the tribal work but is a single or sometimes double strand of wire wrapped around the arm.
Regardless of which style you go for eventually it will no longer be fashionable. The generation who follow you will be looking for their own unique style to make them stand out and be different from everyone else.
You should be aware that your chosen design needs to be something with lasting appeal rather than the latest fashion statement because fashions come and go very quickly.
It costs a lot more (and hurts a lot more) to get a tattoo removed than it does to have one put on and a whole industry has sprung up to deal with all those once fashionable tattoos that the owner wants rid off so think long and hard before having an arm tattoo.
