They were usually looked down on because nice girls just didn't do things like that. In the nineties however, tattoos once again became fashionable and new tattoo parlors opened up everywhere. Once it became popular again with the younger generation it was only a matter of time before women would once again start to wear tattoos with pride. College girls would sometime get a tattoo during spring break and they would get a tattoo for many different reasons. Generally speaking, most tattoos that women get are small and are usually hidden where others can't see it. This is done partly because it's sexy and partly because they want to be able to flaunt it when the mood or the company is right but hide it when at work perhaps.
One tattoo that is very fashionable with the ladies is a dragonfly tattoo. Some girls get one because their pals have already had one and they like it. Others though have very personal reasons for choosing the dragonfly tattoo. To understand why someone has a dragonfly tattoo, you first have to understand about the dragonfly. Dragonflies are unique creatures because they don't follow the crowd. They aren't like house flies that just buzz along everywhere. A dragonfly is very powerful for its size, with a lot of stamina and it doesn't give up easily. They are stronger than other creatures their size but at the same time they are very beautiful.

Once they got through this time in their life they felt better about themselves and much more attractive. They became much stronger than ever before. So the dragonfly tattoo isn't necessarily for others to see but for the girl wearing it alone, so she has a reminder of a personal battle that was won.
Each tattoo that a person has on their body for a particular reason becomes part of who they are and serves as a reminder of the different stages of life that a person has gone through. If you are considering a tattoo, think about the reason you want it and don't forget that it should be worn somewhere that won't matter in your later life.
